Our green grid
The National Grid has been green for around 100 years.
- It progressively displaced coal stations operating in our major cities up until the 1950s
- It now connects 5622 MW of renewable energy (about 67% of New Zealand’s total electricity capacity) from many remote places around the country and transports it to towns and cities
