Land development

If you’re developing or working on land near our lines, then you need to be aware of not only your safety but our need to maintain and operate the line now and into the future.

So we can continue providing a secure electricity transmission network we look to:

  • protect land immediately under (and up to 12m either side of the centreline or a supporting structure) existing lines from encroachment and incompatible activities. (we call this the red zone in the Corridor Management Guide)
  • manage acitivities within close proximity to the transmission lines (up to 20m beyond the 12m protection zone). (we call this the orange zone)
  • inform on any risks to activities beyond 32 m from the centreline or supporting structure (we call this the green zone).

We have some helpful guides available to you to explain further these clearances and incompatible activities.
