How to apply for a vacancy
If you haven't applied for a job through our system before, you'll need to complete our online registration form and create a user profile. We'll ask you to provide some details and upload your CV. You will receive a confirmation email once your application has been received.
How to register for job alerts
Even if there are no current vacancies that suit your requirements, follow the process above to create a user profile and we'll let you know of any new vacancies that match your profile.
You can access your user profile at any time to update your details or unsubscribe from job alerts.
How is my privacy protected?
All applications will be treated with the strictest confidence.
How does the interview process work?
Interviews are an important part of the hiring process. Our interviews are interactive. We use structured behavioural type questions and will also give you the opportunity to ask us questions too.
In some instances you may need to attend a second interview. This will give both you and us an opportunity to learn more about each other.
What is psychometric testing?
For the majority of our external vacancies, the preferred candidate(s) are asked to complete a psychometric assessment as part of the selection process. We use two types of psychometric assessment tests; one focuses on your personality and the other on your abilities. We use a company called OPRA to do our testing.
Pre-employment drug testing
We put safety first at Transpower. In accordance with our drug and alcohol policy all applicants who are offered employment will be required to undertake a pre-employment drug test and a security clearance.
Information for overseas applications
If you are an international applicant and successful in your application, you will need to meet criteria specified by Immigration New Zealand.
At the discretion of the divisional General Manager, for roles where there are clear skill shortages, we may provide a contribution to assist with the below (in line with our international relocation policy):
- household removal
- short-term accommodation once in New Zealand
