Underground cabling work on Ti Rakau Drive starts 21 January 2013

18 January 2013

Underground cabling along Ti Rakau Drive is about to get underway at two sites progressing towards Pakuranga substation near Burswood Drive.

On Monday 21 January work will begin at the eastern side of Ti Rakau Bridge and in early February a second work crew will get underway at the Ti Rakau Drive / Reeves Road intersection heading towards Ti Rakau Bridge.

Delays can be expected for eastbound traffic. All efforts will be made to minimise the impact on motorists including maintaining two lanes of traffic along the work sites during the day reducing to one lane during the night. Night works will be undertaken between Ti Rakau Bridge and Burswood Drive to help minimise disruption to daytime traffic.

We ask that motorists plan ahead to reach their destination on time and use alternative routes where possible.

Suggested detours are:

  • Botany and south eastern bound traffic to use East Tamaki Road or Highbrook Drive off-ramps
  • Howick bound traffic to use Pakuranga Road

This work involves trenching, installing ducts and constructing joint bays where the cable sections will be connected after installation. Once all the ducts are in place crews will return to some areas along Ti Rakau Drive to install the cables.
