We need to continually operate, maintain and develop New Zealand's transmission network – the National Grid – to ensure we meet the ongoing electricity needs of New Zealanders.

Transpower is proposing to realign sections of its Hairini to Mount Maunganui 'A' 110 kV transmission line in the Rangataua Bay area that presently passes over the marae at Maungatapu and orchards at Matapihi.

Why we're doing it

Some of our poles and other assets on the Hairini–Mt Maunganui 'A' transmission line require extensive maintenance due to a combination of structural integrity, ground stability and access to site.  Our proposal helps to rationalise our footprint in the area.

How it will affect you

Our project is going through the Resource Management Act process presently and you can read the documentation here.  While there may be some construction impact from the works themselves we do not expect power supplies to be interrupted.

For more information about the project please contact 0800 the grid or email selina.corboy@transpower.co.nz.
