Award categories 2021

This year, there were some different categories than at previous STAR Awards.

The other change was that the highest honour – the STAR Supreme Award – was chosen by the judges from the winners of the six award categories. This year’s judges selected the award winner that they believe demonstrated the greatest positive outcomes to health, safety and/or wellbeing within their category.

 

Safety Innovation/Design Award

An innovation, improved design or new technology with potential for safety improvement industry-wide.

Hauora Wellbeing Initiative Award

An initiative or strategy that is leading to greater physical, mental, social and/or spiritual hauora or wellbeing for people.

Future of Safety Award

A trainee or apprentice in their first two years of service in the electricity industry who demonstrates outstanding commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.

Frontline Leadership Award

A person with over two years’ service in the electricity industry who demonstrates outstanding commitment to health, safety and wellbeing in the workplace.

Thought Leadership Award An individual who provides key health, safety or wellbeing insights and influence, respected as a go-to person in this field of expertise.

Team Safety Award

A team or organisation that has significantly improved its safety culture and performance by adopting better ways of working.

STAR Supreme Award

The highest honour in the STAR Awards: for the first time this event, the judges will choose from the six award winners awards the one that they believe demonstrates the greatest positive outcomes to health, safety and/or wellbeing within their category.
