During my internship at Transpower, I worked in the Critical Apps Design team. In this time, I learned an incredible amount about the electricity sector and writing apps which work in large software ecosystems.
I worked on the creation of a test automation app, focusing on one of Transpower’s vital solvers which keeps the grid running. It was exciting and engaged to be handed a project to design and develop (with lots of help available when I needed it). This allowed me to build my skills in a wide variety of technical tools and languages. This was a new area for me, but I loved it as it combined my passions for programming, design, and problem solving.
Overall, I had a great time at Transpower learning an incredible amount supported by an awesome and welcoming team. Everyone made me feel welcomed and was keen to offer me a hand whenever it was needed. Another highlight was the intern cohort doing fun activities together like swimming, pub quizzes, movies, and more!
