Celebrating excellence: The Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards are back!

We’re thrilled to be launching the 2026 Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards, designed to recognise the people and teams behind innovative change across the transmission sector.

The awards celebrate those who demonstrate excellence and deliver outstanding solutions that improve the ways we work, raise our standards and deliver better outcomes for the people we serve. They are also a fantastic way of surfacing and sharing the amazing stories of engineering and technology change and progress, as we empower the energy future for New Zealand.

Make this year, your year to shine!

These awards are open to all Transpower’s engineering and technology specialists including those in the wider transmission whānau – our staff, consultants, contractors, sub-contractors and service providers.

We want to celebrate the people and teams who are finding new ways to deliver better outcomes and are making a positive difference for the people we serve. This is also our chance to learn from their work.

In 2024, Transpower took out the Supreme Award with the Real Time Pricing project. Category winners were AECOM for the digital substation protection and automation hardware design; Beca for the Redclyffe Cyclone Gabrielle protection and automation response work; and Transpower teams for the recycling of glass insulators initiative, use of machine learning for an improved tower painting model and the Cyclone Gabrielle response.
