Transpower has made good progress restoring power on its network in the top part of the South Island and the West Coast, following faults caused by severe weather earlier this morning.
All national grid substations across these areas are now able to supply electricity to local lines companies, who are now in the process of gradually restoring power within their respective networks.
Given the weather-related damage to the local lines company’s networks, restoration times will vary, and we recommend people affected by outages visit their local lines company website for further details.
Severe weather continues to affect the region, meaning further outages are possible. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and manage any events that arise while ensuring our crews remain safe.
Any further details will be provided on Transpower’s website and Facebook page.
