Transpower Releases FY22 Integrated Report

29 Sep 2022

IR22

Transpower has today released its Integrated Report for the financial year ending 30 June 2022 (FY22).

The report follows the release of Transpower’s financial statements on 26 August 2022.

FY22 is the second year in which Transpower has adopted the <IR> integrated reporting model – an approach that provides a comprehensive analysis of and commentary on the organisation’s strategy and governance, and reports against a range of environmental, social and economic measures. Last year’s report won the ‘Best Newcomer’ award in the CPA New Zealand Integrated Reporting awards and ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Listed Companies’ section of the awards.

The FY22 Integrated Report includes updates on Transpower’s greenhouse gas emissions, progress against key strategic initiatives, and milestones for implementing the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures framework. Overall, the report provides information on the impact Transpower has had on Aotearoa New Zealand and its communities over the past year.

Chair Dr Keith Turner and Chief Executive Alison Andrew recognise it is a time of growth and opportunity for the electricity sector, with the Government making key steps towards an electrified economy, and organisations around the country heeding this call with strong demand.

They note that, while the impact of COVID-19 continues to affect the workforce and economy, Transpower has built on organisational strengths and made steady progress against key targets. The past year has seen the completion of several major projects, including the Clutha Upper Waitaki Lines Project, which was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget. The organisation also recorded success against key Sustainability Strategy targets, with several sustainability measures embedded into business as usual and the milestone launch of Transpower’s Green Finance Programme.

The report presents an organisation in a strong position to undertake increasing volumes of work in the years ahead and ensure the smooth delivery of the country’s decarbonisation objectives.

The Integrated Annual Report is available to read here.
