Our electricity system needs to remain secure and resilient as Aotearoa transitions to a zero carbon future. We know there will be new challenges to meet as well as fresh opportunities to support the transition.

The Electricity Authority engaged the System Operator to help develop a shared understanding among New Zealand power system stakeholders about these opportunities and challenges.

Phase One and Two (Complete)

The Electricity Authority published our final Opportunities and challenges to the future security and resilience of the New Zealand power system report alongside our draft 10-year roadmap of the actions needed to deliver on it in March 2022.

The final report followed consultation with industry on our draft report which was published in November 2021.

Phase Three

The programme is now in Phase Three.
