What we’re doing
Transpower is undertaking urgent repair work on an underground power cable. This work will impact on the Northern busway. There are two sections of the cable (the Hobson St to Wairau Rd 220kV cable) that need to be repaired.
Northpower will be conducting the work on behalf of Transpower.
We are coordinating with Auckland Transport and Auckland System Management to plan this project work to be as least disruptive as possible to the public.
This work will start on Monday 15 April 2024.
Why we’re doing it
The underground power cable is damaged. If we don’t repair the cable, it could stop working which would result in power cuts. Fixing the cable now means that further disruption is avoided.

The repair work is expected to be completed by 18 May 2024. If this timeframe changes this information will be updated.
