Dr Richard Templar, Chair
Chief Executive, Engineering New Zealand
Richard became the Chief Executive of Engineering New Zealand in November 2020. He was previously Chief Executive of Manawatū District Council. Richard is an Engineering New Zealand Fellow and holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering. He is passionate about the vital role engineers and engineering have to play in New Zealand’s response to the challenges it faces, including engineering a better New Zealand in an economic, social, equitable and environmental sense.
Dr Marcos Pelenur
Chief Executive, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority
Dr Marcos Pelenur became Chief Executive of EECA in September 2023. Previously he worked for the Behaviour Insights Team in Ottawa, Canada and several policy leadership positions at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment. Marcos has a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, is a Chartered Professional Member of Engineering New Zealand and is registered as a Chartered Engineer with the UK Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
Elena Trout
Chair, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority
Elena is a professional engineer who acts as an advisor to central and local government on a variety of major infrastructure projects. She is the Chair of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority and is a Past President and Distinguished Fellow of Engineering New Zealand. Elena holds an extensive portfolio of governance roles which includes being a director of Ara Ake Ltd, Callaghan Innovation, Ngāpuhi Asset Holding Company, Contact Energy, Harrison Grierson, Citycare Ltd.
