Looking after our people is important to us. That's why when you join Transpower as a permanent employee you’ll be eligible for a range of benefits.
You’ll have access to a wide range of health and wellness benefits to help you maintain your work/life balance. We also encourage professional development and pride ourselves on being an employer of choice who offers a flexible working environment.
Income Protection Insurance
This insurance is provided to give Transpower employees a monthly income until the age of 65, if you are unable to work in your permanent role due to an accident or protracted illness.
This insurance for permanent employees provides a benefit equal to two times your annual base salary in the event of death or diagnosis of a terminal illness where death is expected within 12 months.
Critical Illness Insurance
This insurance for permanent employees provides a benefit of $40,000 in the event you are diagnosed with one of the serious illnesses contained in the Insurance policy document.
We offer medical insurance to all permanent employees. This covers partners and any dependent children under the age of 20. This benefit is currently offered through Southern Cross Regularcare.
Employees have access to free flu injections every year.
In addition to offering a free annual eye screening test to staff, we contribute up to $350 towards obtaining a new prescription every two years if this is required for work reasons.
Employee Assistance Programme
The Employee Assistance Programme is designed to provide confidential help for employees when they are faced with personal problems and need someone to talk to in order to find solutions that work for them.
In addition to the standard annual leave entitlement, Transpower offers:
After one year’s service, you can take one paid day off a year (in addition to annual leave) to help recharge your batteries.
You can ‘buy’ up to 10 additional days leave per year. The cost of the leave can be spread across the year.
Enhanced parental leave
We top up the 18 week IRD Paid Parental Leave Provision to 50 per cent of your salary. An additional week of paid paternity leave or two weeks paternity leave at 50 per cent of salary is also available.
We work in open-plan offices with plenty of break-out rooms. There are kitchens in all our offices that are equipped with coffee machines, microwaves, toasters and fridges. A number of our offices have shower changing facilities, bike racks and informal meeting areas.
For many roles at Transpower, office hours are not fixed, allowing you to manage your time more effectively.
Transpower organises a number of social activities for staff, including ‘First Friday’ networking events, social sports teams and lunchtime quizzes.
We believe that a highly competitive and robust remuneration system is critical to our success. Remuneration levels for employees are set by taking into account salary practices in the markets where we compete for employees, together with Transpower’s strategic market position.
Transpower’s commitment to KiwiSaver goes beyond the current statutory obligations. We match employees’ KiwiSaver contributions up to 4% of earnings.
We match staff donations to any registered charity, dollar for dollar, up to $300 per annum.
After one year’s service, you are entitled to take one day off per year, with full pay, to work with community or charity groups.
We encourage all our staff to develop their careers within the business. We also provide ongoing development opportunities through a range of avenues. These include coaching, mentoring, on-the-job learning as well as internal and external courses.
We are very supportive of employees wishing to study part-time. Study assistance is available to enable staff to develop their skills in ways that are relevant to Transpower’s business needs. We can provide study assistance in the form of paid time off for study leave or to sit exams, as well as reimbursement in whole or in part for course fees.
Please note that benefits are only provided for Transpower permanent employees.
