Why did you join Transpower?

I was initially drawn to Transpower as an organisation that does Asset Management really well. I also wanted to work for an organisation that makes a difference and contributes to the greater good. I get to work in a role that goes beyond just technical tasks and has a real focus on social responsibility and supporting the wellbeing of New Zealanders through a secure electricity supply. It’s awesome to work for an organisation where there is this synergy between my own professional aspirations and values and the benefits of Transpower’s work for kiwis.

What about your role makes you proud?

Transpower’s mission matches my own very closely. I’m proud to work somewhere that allows me to make a difference both through ensuring a reliable electricity supply for the country, and through our focus on managing relationships with landowners and working in harmony with the environment. We’re a lifeline organisation, and it’s exciting to play such a huge role for New Zealand.

What is your favourite part of your job?

Without doubt, the people. The professionalism, friendliness and shared commitment shown by my colleagues makes for a workplace where everyone is focused on delivering positive outcomes for Transpower and Aotearoa as a whole. It’s very inspiring.

Cijina’s team are experts on the condition and ‘health’ of Transpower’s 11,000km of high-voltage transmission lines. These lines move the power we all use every day from where it’s made to where we need it and keeping them in good shape means power supply is reliable and safe for Kiwis everywhere.
