Why did you join Transpower?
The chance to make a meaningful contribution to New Zealand was a big drawcard, but I also liked the idea of having the chance to constantly improve my skillset by being challenged. Working on projects that support our country’s growth constantly reinforces that I made the right choice by joining Transpower. There’s a real culture at Transpower of learning and teamwork, and being surrounded by skilled, supportive colleagues makes it an awesome place to build my career.
What about your role makes you proud?
I’m proud to help provide a crucial service for New Zealand. Being part of the team that keeps the country running gives my work a sense of purpose and impact, and I really enjoy being able to see the tangible result of our mahi in communities across the motu.
What’s your favourite part of your job?
The constant opportunities for learning and personal growth. I have over a decade of experience in the industry, but there are always new problems to solve and new skills to master. I get a lot of satisfaction from working on simulations, coding or writing reports, and it’s great to have a certain amount of autonomy over each workday. Because we’re working towards a future that is electric, there’s a lot of newness and innovation that has to take place. Every new intern, grad and recruit is an encouragement that we’re building the workforce we need to build that future.
