Why did you join Transpower?

I have always thought it was important to work for a company that is ensuring people live better lives, and with New Zealand’s need to electrify I knew that Transpower was the place where I could do this and make a real difference. I knew that I would enjoy the connection that comes with working in a team that strives for a better tomorrow.

What about your role makes you proud?

I believe that the work my team carries out each day is essential for New Zealand’s growth and wellbeing. Working to ensure that we have a secure, renewable supply of electricity is important for everyone in this country, including your family and mine. Being part of a team with this shared sense of purpose makes me very proud and motivates me to do my best.

What’s your favourite part of your job?

The people. I’m lucky to work with an incredibly talented team, who are all deeply committed to their work and its importance for New Zealand’s future. The entire workplace is full of people who genuinely care about what they’re doing, and that makes for an inspiring setting where it’s impossible not to thrive. We’re also in a sector that is growing quickly, and it’s awesome to see the value that each new recruit brings to the industry. The challenge of preparing New Zealand’s infrastructure for the electrified future is a shared one.
