Why did you join Transpower?
Electricity plays a critical role in empowering lives and businesses. I chose to work at Transpower because I want to help influence how New Zealanders power their lives as the country moves towards a highly electrified future. The industry offers a great breadth of opportunity, and there are roles for everyone regardless of background or technical expertise.
What about your role makes you proud?
I’m proud to work for an organisation that is directly contributing to the benefit of future generations. Transpower is committed to investing in infrastructure that serves the greater good of New Zealand to enable us to grow and thrive, and it’s very motivating to know that the work being done today will have a lasting positive impact on the country for generations to come. The people who work here are experts in their fields, and very generous with their knowledge. The collective drive to build a better future makes my role here very meaningful and rewarding.
What is your favourite part of your job?
I get to interact and work with people who are out there doing amazing innovative work for the sector, across industries, in the regions and in communities, and bring their ideas back to Transpower to help shape our future plans. Hearing from these visionaries and soaking in their ambitions is inspiring, and it fuels my passion for my role and my enthusiasm for engaging in forward-thinking conversations.
Tania leads our Future Grid programme, which is seeking information and input from people and businesses across New Zealand to help us understand what Kiwis will need from Transpower’s grid in the future. This will inform our plans for design, investment and operation for the next 25 years.
